Integrated Ideas were approached by a local tennis club which is very close to our Woodbridge office, to help give their website a little bit of a revamp and lift. The primary goal was to provide visitors with a better user journey throughout the site, to offer more accurate and up-to-date information along with enticing new members to join the club.
The club committee wasn’t after a huge design change or shift to a new site completely, so we kept the same branding and colourways that it had previously, keeping it inline still the rest of the clubs marketing material. We also kept the tweaks to a minimum yet still giving the front end visually more of an impact.
We agreed with the club that we would work with the existing theme builder to allow the current in-house members to continue to update the site in a way that they knew how, which in turn helps to keep their costs down. We updated all the out-of-date plugins and WordPress itself to the latest version and installed Yoast to assist in optimising their search presence. The underlying theme actually had a lot more functionality than they were aware of so, with a little bit of research and training, we gave them a short lesson in how to use it which has greatly improved their ability to update the site going forward.
Whilst working on the site, we completed a content review to ensure its alignment with the intended target audience and optimisation for search engine visibility. This evaluation allowed us to fine-tune the content on the homepage, incorporating relevant terms that would attract new visitors through search engine queries as well as offering site visitors a better glimpse of what the club has to offer.
The target audience is quite varied, from those knowing nothing about the club to those who are familiar and would be returning to view the latest updates. By adding clearly defined sections, quick links and clear calls to action buttons on the homepage it allowed users to see and jump straight to the information they were after.
The club’s social media accounts highlighted a lot of buzz and activity so we included a Gallery page as a way to showcase this. A picture certainly tells a thousand words in this instance so the Instagram feed was a must to include.
As with any website that we build, we worked very closely with the club whilst updating the site so that they were a big part of it. Clients understanding the process, how things work and what are good guidelines to follow, helps not only their knowledge but also develops better skills for when they maintain the site going forward so that they can stay on top of their game (excuse the pun!).
